Rachel Baxter is an artist living and working in Troy, NY as well as an adjunct professor at The College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY. She received her MFA in Printmaking from Indiana University in 2014, and prior to that received her BFA from Saint Rose in 2011. Her work stems from her interest in materials that possess an inherent ability to transform. Utilizing various processes such as oxidizing metals on the surface of the canvas, drawing with smoke, and suspending pigments in water as it evaporates, she exposes the other unseen materials present in the creation of the work: time, movement, and gravity.
