Rachel Baxter is an abstract artist living and working in Troy, NY. She received her MFA from Indiana University in 2014 and has shown her work internationally, as well as given artist talks at Herron School of Design, Butler University, The Printmakers Association of Iceland in Reykjavík and other universities and organizations. As an MFA candidate She was co-director of The Fuller Projects, a gallery on IU’s campus and was elected president of the Master of Fine Arts Organization. Other awards include Indiana University Fine Arts Fund Award, Grace L. Dyer Memorial Award, Pygmalion’s Art Supplies Award of Recognition, and most recently Honorable Mention from Albany Center Gallery’s Members Show.
In 2015 She received a Sitka Fellows Program Fellowship and spent the summer researching and pushing her studio practice in Alaska. After returning back to New York she had a two person show at The Arts Center of the Capital Region titled “Traces | Mary Pat Wager + Rachel Baxter” as well as organized multiple pop-up events in the Capital Region. She currently has a studio at The Church an emerging artist cooperative located in Troy, NY.
